“Garden of Eden” details

June 19th, 2011 @ 01:31 am › 0 comments

I just came accross the official site for “Garden of Eden” on KickStarter (a site that allows filmakers to raise money for a project through pledges). Here’s the movie’s synopsis:

Jake is a good kid –an impressionable high school freshman who daydreams about Kristin Sommers (17), the hottest girl in school.  When Jake’s great uncle suddenly commits suicide, Jake is left with his uncle’s beautiful house featuring a majestic garden.  Upon learning that Kristin is looking for an open house to throw a party, Jake offers up his uncle’s house. Kristen falls in love with the place, especially the garden, and suggests they play a game called “Garden of Eden…”   Jake happily agrees to play.

Question by question Jake and Kristin reveal themselves to one another divulging their secrets and their bodies.  The game continues for weeks unbeknownst to Russ, Kristin’s possessive boyfriend. But one day in a moment of weakness Jake and Kristin acquiesce to their true feelings for one another and “cross the line.” Realizing she has no true feelings for Russ, Kristin breaks up with him and asks Jake if they can meet at the house again, wanting to start over.  But this time Russ follows them home and witnesses their intimate game.  Seething with anger and jealousy, he confronts Jake and Kristin as the film builds towards its violent climax.

According to the same source “Garden of Eden” will have a Los Angeles premiere and DVDs and Blu-Ray disks will be sent to pledgers (of course I only found out about this after it closes) so hopefully one day it will also be available to purchase or download.

“Outlaw Country” to do pilot reshoots

June 18th, 2011 @ 09:49 am › 5 comments

According to Deadline.com FX ordered rewrites and reshoots of “Outlaw Country”:

FX’s pilot Outlaw Country is undergoing a retooling. The original script, written by Josh Goldin and Rachel Abramowitz, has been given a rewrite by Goldin, Abramowitz and Outlaw Country’s executive producer/co-showrunner David Manson. There will be substantial reshoots, which will be directed by actor-helmer Adam Arkin. Arkin is stepping in for the original pilot’s director Michael Dinner, who would’ve done the reshoots had he not been busy with another FX pilot he is directing, Powers. There won’t be major recastings on the project, a crime thriller/family drama set against the backdrop of Southern organized crime and Nashville royalty that stars Luke Grimes, Haley Bennett, Mary Steenburgen and John Hawkes. I hear a couple of small new roles have been added and another small part, played in the original pilot by Lisa Blount, will be recast following the actress’ death.

Getting Outlaw Country off the ground has been a long and arduous process. FX greenlighted the project to pilot last April and filmed the pilot last fall. The network has showed faith in the drama — FX president John Landgraf recently listed Outlaw Country, along with Powers, as candidates for a series launch in the winter. Also proving FX’s commitment to the Nashville-set Outlaw Country is its major additional investment in the project in the form of a rewrite and extensive reshoots. In addition to getting paid for the new pilot, the cast also have had their options extended through December. FX has a history of tweaking its pilots, including reshooting substential parts of them, before ordering them to series. It happened with Sons of Anarchy, whose reshoots were done by Dinner, and, most recently, with Lights Out. Arkin, who has a role on hit Sons of Anarchy, has directed episodes of several FX series, including SOA, Justified and Terriers. Art Linson and John Linson executive produceOutlaw Country, which is produced by Fox TV Studios and FX Prods.

This is good news, if FX wasn’t interested in ordering “Outlaw Country” to series they wouldn’t spend all these money on reshooting the episode.
